Farewell Mother of Dragons: Emilia Clarke bids adieu to Khaleesi with new haircut

After finishing shooting for the final season of Game of Thrones, many cast members are commemorating the milestone in their lives and careers by doing something new. While Stark sisters and real-life BFFs Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams got tattoos representing the hit fantasy shows, Emilia Clarke aka Daenerys Targaryen has chosen a different path.

Clark wore icy-white locks for the duration of eight seasons of Game of Thrones. These locks and her braiding style took the fashion world by storm. The naturally brunette lass actually dyed her hair of the same colour to shoot the final season of the HBO juggernaut. Alas, the long manes are gone now and are replaced by new low-maintenance pixie cut.

Taking to her Instagram account Clarke unveiled the look and also talked about the inspiration behind the new hairdo. Turns out the meme about how Brad Pitt looks like his partners in a relationship was the inspiration behind the new avatar.

I saw this news article about Brad Pitt and now I can’t stop thinking about it. pic.twitter.com/OytJQD5rli

In the caption, Clarke wrote, “Me: I’m thinking when Gwyneth and Brad had the same haircut. @jennychohair: I got ‘chu #nowijustneedanextra2feetoflegs #slidingdoors4lyfe @jennychohair I would follow you into any battle anytime anywhere you, my GURL! #fortheloveofthelowmaintenance

Incidentally, Brad Pitt lost an opportunity to dine with Clarke in a silent charity auction Sean Penn’s annual gala for Haiti.

Clarke wasn’t sure about getting a pixie cut. Earlier in September, she told Harper’s Bazaar UK, “Yes, it is quite short ― because my hair was, like, dying! So I’ve cut it a little bit shorter. It’s almost the shortest it’s been. I’m honestly trying to grow out the blonde, because it’s just killed my hair, and I miss having nice hair!

“I do like the length but I wish my hair was longer. I do bloody love long hair, but then I’m always dreaming of cutting it all off and having a pixie cut – but I don’t know that my face could take it.”

Kit Harington is another actor whose manes are just as important as his character Jon Snow. He too intends to chop them off but looks like his on-screen paramour beat him to it.
